What's free, and what the plans are for
The app and the whole word list are free, and stay free. The paid plans exist for one reason: drawing a picture to order costs real money each time, and the people who want that pay for it.
Free, for everyone
- The app, with a personal sign-in.
- The full word pack: every word, every community-chosen picture, every spoken sentence.
- Your own progress, review dates you set yourself, export and restore.
- Ten custom words of your own, up to four a day, enough to add the ones you actually needed this week. The limit is deliberately soft: just enough to discourage abuse.
- A seat on the community site: vote, comment, suggest words and report. Submitting pictures needs Plus or Studio.
Plus
For people who want to customise their word list without limits and have pictures drawn for those words. Plus members get a monthly allowance of generated pictures, 25 today, drawn by the house in the app's style from the member's sound-alike. The house draws them, on purpose: it keeps every picture in the style and under the rules, which is what keeps this tier cheap.
Studio
For people who want to bring their own pictures from outside: drawings, photos, collages. Every upload goes through the same safety scan as a generated picture, and the scan costs money per image, so Studio costs more than Plus. Studio includes a larger monthly picture allowance.
Top-ups and credits
Run out of pictures in a month? Buy a pack, priced at cost plus a margin. Or earn them: every vote that matches the eventual outcome, and every report that stands up, pays one picture credit. How credits are earned.
Prices
Being settled now. The intent from the owner is "as low as possible", and the cost sheet behind the prices is published with the plans page on the community site, so you can see what a picture costs us and what we charge for it.
Why paying changes your vote
A paid membership is expensive to fake at scale. That is why a paying member's vote carries a weight of 1.5 against 1.0 for a confirmed email and 0.5 for a bare handle. It's not a reward for paying; it's that a paying identity is one we can trust more. What one vote weighs.
