Reputation, credits and badges

Nothing moves for voting, reporting or commenting as such. Reputation moves when a picture reaches a final outcome and your earlier call turns out right or wrong. Being right pays; volume pays nothing.

How reputation moves

Reputation starts at 1.00. It changes only when a picture reaches a final outcome, ratified (chosen for the app) or removed (by a moderator), and only for people who acted on that picture before the outcome.

Reputation stays between 0.10 and 5.00 and is recomputed every six hours. Being right is rewarded more than being wrong is punished, with two exceptions: boosting content that gets removed, and filing reports that don't stand up. Those are the two behaviours that hurt the community, so they cost.

A moderator's own report is an action, not a complaint, and moves nothing.

Picture credits

A credit is one extra picture on top of your plan's monthly allowance, spendable on generating a picture for any word.

Each is paid once per person, picture and reason, so the scorer can run forever without paying twice. The only way to farm credits is to be right about what a human will later decide, which is exactly the behaviour the community wants.

Standing and badges

The People page sorts members by a standing score built from the same outcomes:

standing = reputation × 10 + right × 3 − wrong × 2 + pictures chosen × 3 − removed × 2 + small terms for helpful comments, comments and votes (each capped)

What is deliberately not rewarded

  • Casting a vote. Filing a report. Posting a comment. Volume is free to fake, so it earns nothing.
  • Being popular. Helpful votes on a comment move the comment up and add a little standing; they never touch your vote weight.
  • Reporting pictures that are then cleared. That costs.

Five dismissed reports from a newcomer drop them to 0.25, below the reporting floor. That's on purpose: griefing limits itself without anyone having to step in.
