Questions people ask
Short answers. Each links to the long one.
Is it really free?
Yes. The app, the whole word list, every community picture and every spoken sentence are free for everyone, with no trial period. The paid plans exist only to pay for pictures drawn to order. What's free, and what the plans are for.
Why is the background a colour?
The colour is the grammatical gender: coral is feminine, teal is masculine, sand means none. You learn la and el without being drilled on them. How learning works.
Why doesn't the picture have the word written on it?
Because you'd read it instead of remembering it. No picture ever contains writing; the app draws all text itself.
Why doesn't the app decide when I review?
Because you know whether a word felt solid and a formula doesn't. You pick every interval yourself, and the test result never moves a date on its own. That's a deliberate decision by the owner.
Where do the pictures come from?
From members of the community site. Members on a plan submit; every picture is checked before anyone sees it; the community votes; the winner ships to the app. Submitting a picture.
Can my vote be outweighed?
Yes, and so can everyone's. A vote weighs more the harder the person is to fake and the more often they've been right, up to a cap of three times a newcomer's. The rules and numbers are public. How voting works.
What if something inappropriate gets through?
Report it from the picture. Enough weight behind reports holds it at once; a scan or a person settles it. Reports that stand up earn you credit. Reports, penalties and how they lift.
I made a mistake and got paused. Now what?
Every penalty lifts on its own: by time, or by being right in later votes. Your account page shows exactly which and how far along you are. The table.
Does the app listen to me?
No. Audio plays; nothing records. There is no voice interface.
Where is my progress stored?
On your phone. Export it to a file to back it up; restore from that file on a new phone. The server keeps only an anonymous activity mailbox you can turn off.
Which phones?
iPhone first. Android is on the list.
Will there be other languages?
Yes. Each gets its own community and list under the same rules. Spanish goes first; the next opens when this one runs on its own. If you'd bring a language, say so on the community site.
Who runs this?
A small team, and the members. Editorial decisions, which picture wins and which words are in, belong to the community. Legal-safety decisions, what may be shown at all, do not, and never will.
